Sadness as popular children’s boutique in Tandragee to close after five years

Top Kids in Tandragee

A popular children’s boutique in Tandragee is to close after five years.

Top Kids, based on Market Street, will close its doors for the final time on August 31.

Its owner, multi-entrepreneur Lynn Conn, said it was a choice between “slowing down” on her hairdressing salon – a lifelong passion – or retail in order to spend more time with her family.

“This has been hard to write,” she wrote, as she announced the decision to close at the end of the month on social media.

“As most of you are aware, I also own a hairdressing salon. I had thought of slowing down on that and continuing in retail, however, after much thought I have decided I cannot give up on hairdressing which I have loved from a child and have been doing for 35 years and still do.

“Running two businesses has been a labour of love and I’ve missed out on so much family time, so I’ve had to make the difficult decision to leave Top Kids.

“We want to thank everyone so so much for all your support over the last five years, it has been much appreciated and we have loved meeting you all and making new friends.

“We have loved seeing all your kids getting bigger each year and their excitement, whether they were getting their first nursery, primary or junior high uniforms, and all the years in between.

“The stories from those excited to get back to school and the ones that hated it, and what they’ve done over their holidays have been a joy to hear. We have loved them all. And will miss it.”

Lynn’s decision, while difficult, brought many well-wishes from friends and customers from over the years.

One woman wrote: “Aww Lynn…this is such sad news for you, but you’ve done yourself proud by running both your business so well.”

Another commented: “Ah Lynn you and all the girls welcomed us with open arms from the start and help and support has been on tap ever since. You took the boys under your wing and always treated them like little princes and they loved picking out all their latest gorgeous outfits and modelling them. We will miss all the laughs but I know just how hard you work and how much you appreciate family time. Wishing you the very best for the future.”

Another added: “It’s some stress managing a retail store alone, but to add in another business and try to get some quality time with the family is another level, so congrats on five years.”
