A change of use application has been lodged with Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council that – if approved – could see a Tandragee takeaway converted into apartments.
The application submitted – in the name of SRI Ltd – seeks permission to develop 34 Market Street from a mixed commercial and residential property into two apartments.
The premises currently houses an Indian takeaway – with a kitchen and storage space – on the ground floor and a two bedroom residential apartment on the first floor.
Under the proposals for development the ground floor would be developed into a two bedroom apartment with entryway access from the main street.
The first floor apartment would remain unchanged with entryway access from the rear of the building.
To facilitate the development of the ground floor apartment, the existing shop front would be removed and work would be conducted externally to fit a new doorway and windows in keeping with typical residential style.
There is currently no parking provision for the premises and according to the proposals none would be introduced.
Following consideration of the application the DfI Roads Southern Division have the provisional green light on their end, despite the lack of spaces stating: “Given the town centre location, the availability of on-street parking, and the close proximity of public car park; DFI Roads believes it would be unreasonable to offer any objections”.
The application is due to be advertised shortly.
