A post mortem and formal identifcaton will be carried out “in due course” after the discovery of a body on the beach at Kilkeel.
Police received a report and attended the scene in the Moor Road area, along with other emergency services, just before 6.15am on Thursday, May 21.
The body, believed to be of a man aged in his 40s, has now been removed from the scene.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “As a result of enquiries conducted by officers this morning, the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.”
