A south Armagh GAA club is hoping for Council to wave the green flag wit an application to build a brand new 4G pitch facility.
St Patrick’s GFC in Cullyhanna have applied for permission to transform a grass pitch into a new state-of-the-art 4G pitch with associated floodlighting and ball stops.
The venue currently boasts two full-sized grass pitches but it is the area to the rear of the clubrooms the senior Armagh side is hoping to adapt.
The two-time county finalists recently submitted plans with Newry, Mourne and Down for the “proposed replacement of the existing grass pitch and floodlighting with the construction of a new 4G multi-sports pitch including the provision of new perimeter fencing, ball stops and new floodlighting”.
Planners are due to discuss the application in the coming weeks with a decision expected over the summer.
If successful, St Patrick’s will join a number of sports team across the county boasting all-year, all-weather facility.
