Shock as young Co Armagh dad dies in tragic holiday accident in Turkey

A young Co Armagh father-of-one has died in a tragic accident while on holiday in Turkey.

Conor Lennon, from Newtownhamilton, was holidaying with friends when the devastating incident occurred on Saturday.

His passing has sent shockwaves throughout the rural south Armagh community – and beyond – as friends and, in particular, his family, come to terms with their heartbreaking loss.

A funeral notice for Conor has described him as the cherished son of Tony and Paula, and devoted daddy to Georgia, as well as loving brother to Megan and Sian.

Conor’s home will be private to family and close friends at this time to allow the family to process their incomprehensible grief and loss.

Funeral arrangements will be published when available, all enquiries to Mone Funeral Directors 02837531236.

Tributes and condolences have been pouring in following the news of Conor’s tragic passing.

His sister, Sian, posting photos of her brother on social media, wrote: “I love you big bro. Didn’t get saying it enough. Forever and always. Thanks for everything.”

Park Butchers in Newtownhamilton, posting on Saturday evening, wrote: “Myself, Vicki and all our staff are devastated to learn of the passing of Conor this morning.

“The Lennon family have played a big part in our businesses, including Conor, from the age of 15. We are all one big family and we are all heartbroken.

“We send our sincerest condolences to Tony, Paula, Megan, Sian, Georgia, Siofra and Jackie and family at this difficult time. We keep them in our thoughts & prayers.”

One person described Conor as an “absolute one in a million…I will never ever forget the random drops of unforgettable advice you use to give me.”

Another wrote: “Absolutely awful…such a kind, funny lad…thinking of all your family…Rest in peace Lenno.”

“Thought the world of Connor..lovely young man and always smiling,” one friend posted.

One woman commented: “My God, I honestly can’t take this in!!! Talking to you one day and you’re gone the next!!!! RIP Lenno. Thanks for being a great mate. Heartbroken for your wee princess Georgia who you loved so much!!”

Sinn Féin councillor for the area, Aoife Finnegan, wrote: “Heartbreaking news. Sincere condolences. Sending his family and friend all the love, support and prayers.

While party colleague, Oonagh Magennis, added: “Devastating news. Thoughts and prayers with the entire family circle. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”

Deeply regretted by his heartbroken parents, daughter, sisters, girlfriend Siofra and his extended family and many friends.
