Police car and neighbours’ cars rammed following reports of man ‘kicking in door’ in Forkhill

A police car and two vehicles have been damaged following an incident in south Armagh that originated with a man “kicking” the door of a property after midnight.

A witness reported that the man had been “kicking in” a door of a property in the Longfield Heights area of Forkhill in the early morning hours of Saturday January 17.

When police arrived, the witness said, the man attempted to evade them and rammed both the police car and a neighbour’s van in the process.

Police in Newry confirmed they received a report at around 12.55am on Saturday January 17, of a male kicking the door of a property in the Longfield Heights area of Forkhill.

Officers attended the scene, where a male was seen driving in a red Toyota Avensis, before making off from the area. In the process, a police car was hit, along with two other parked vehicles.

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information, including digital footage such as dash-cam, ring-doorbell or otherwise, is asked to contact police on the 101 number, quoting reference 54 of 17/01/26.
