Cold callers tried to ‘lure householder outside on pretext of carrying out repairs and cleaning’

'Callers appeared at a house in Dromintee three times in as many weeks offering knives and bedding for sale'

Knocking door

Cold callers attempted to “lure a householder” out of her home under the “pretext of carrying out repairs and cleaning”, it has been alleged.

And the incident has prompted Sinn Féin representatives to once again urge residents to be cautious when answering their front doors to cold callers.

Callers appeared at a house in Dromintee three times in as many weeks offering knives and bedding for sale.

Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has spoken to the PSNI in relation to the incidents.

He said: “On the third visit a male attempted to lure the householder out of the house under the pretext of carrying out repairs and cleaning.

“Fortunately, the lady declined his offer. Following each of the incidents the cold callers left the area without knocking any other doors.

“On two occasions they left the street in southern registered vans.”
