Tributes have been paid to a highly respected and deeply admired Portadown Orangeman, Oliver Laffin.
Oliver, who was originally from Rathfriland, sadly passed away suddenly on Sunday (September 27) at his Portadown home.
Sharing their sincere condolences, one person said: “Oliver was a true gentleman and a good friend and many a laugh we had. Worked with him in NIES Craigavon years ago and spent a few weekends with him on Drumcree hill all those years ago. Condolences to the whole family circle at this sad time.”
A popular and familiar face in the Legion and Gary’s Bar, Oliver made many a friend with whom he forged lasting memories.
Oliver has been described as a “real gentleman”, a “great character” and “one of a kind” by those who knew him.
A death notice described him as the beloved husband of the late Helen, treasured dad of Gary, William, Margaret, Marion, Hilary, Jacqueline and the late Doreen and also a much loved father in law, Granda and Great-Granda.
His Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1.30pm in Seagoe Parish Church with committal following in Seagoe Cemetery.
