Portadown teen ‘candidate for custody’ as he make ‘first foray’ into adult court

Craigavon Magistrates Court

A Portadown teenager “a candidate for custody” according to judge following his first appearance in the adult court system.

The judge told the 18-year-old: “Your days of playing about are over.”

Tyler Harvey, of Montague Street, pleaded guilty to possession of Class B at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Defence barrister Conor Lunny commented: “He does have a record in the youth courts; this is his first foray into this adult division.”

District Judge Bernie Kelly stated: “I’m loving this, first time in the adult court, he’s not going to be asked what he wants anymore.

“I’m now ordering a pre-sentence report because, with your record, I think you are a candidate for custody.”

She added: “Your days of playing about are over”.

Harvey was released to appear on November 13 for sentencing.
