Co Armagh woman’s warning to lone female drivers after car park incident tonight

A Portadown woman has warned motorists to be vigilant after a woman tried to gain access to her car tonight (Thursday) as she was sitting in the vehicle.

Libby Clarke issued a warning to others via Facebook after the incident, which happened at around 5.40pm in the car park at Magowan West.

She advised others to be wary when getting their vehicles in the town.

The shocked woman said she had got into her car and sat using her mobile phone for a few minutes.

Libby, via Facebook, explained: “A woman approached the car and signalled for me to put down my window. I locked the car instead.

“She walked past my car, and just as I finished my call she went round back and tried to open rear off side door.

“I put my hand on the horn and she went away to a group nearby.

“I called police, then drove out through the second car park. Her friend was trying to get into another car. Now there’s no way they were up to any good, and they only went to cars with lone women drivers. Were they lining up to steal my car? Who knows, but be vigilant.”

The well-known local woman has described the person who attempted to open the door as having blonde hair and a ponytail, and she believes that two other men standing nearby could have been associated with the incident.
