A Young Farmers’ Club has announced that their upcoming annual Tractor Run will be held in memory of their late member, Glen Montgomery.
Bleary YFC are holding this year’s run on Friday, August 4, with profits to be split evenly between Tiny Life and their own funds.
The Tiny Life charity is close to the members’ hearts and was chosen by Glen’s family due to Glen being born prematurely.
Glen Montgomery, from the Richmount Road area of Portadown and a member of Bleary YFC, lost his life in a single-vehicle collision on the Moy Road in the early hours of Sunday, April 16 this year.
Glen’s brother Danny will be leading the run, which is set to pass through Donaghcloney, Waringstown, Dollingstown and Magheralin. Registration will start at 7pm with Tractors leaving at 7.45pm sharp.
Last year’s run was hugely successful, raising over £2,135. This enabled Bleary YFC to present £1,100 to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Taking place at Brookvale Farm on 80 Redhill Road, with the kind permission of the Lilburn family, the event will have a wide range activities for all the family including a bouncy castle, food provided by Rosemount Cottage Farms and milkshakes which can be purchased from Brookvale vending machine as well as other treats from their farm shop.
There will also be other vendors such as Betty’s Ice Cream, Fizz Matters and a tuck shop.
At the event, Bleary YFC will be offering the chance for new members aged between 12 and 30 to sign up to join the club. They meet on the first and third Friday of each month in the Bleary Farmers’ Hall on the Upper Ballydugan Road, with their first night back set for Friday, September 1.
You can follow Bleary YFC on their Facebook page as they release more information and the full route in the coming days.
