A police officer suffered minor injuries while trying to stop a thief making off in a car he had stolen during a test drive.
The incident happened on Monday morning just before 11.40am in Newry.
A 2006 blue Honda Accord was stolen from a car dealership on the Belfast Road area while out on a test drive.
The car salesman, who was in the vehicle at the time, was able to get out of the car in the Fiveways area of the city.
He was not injured in the ordeal.
When the thief made his escape in the vehicle he then struck a police car.
An officer who was in the area at the time was also struck by the car as it made off toward the Old Dublin Road.
The PSNI said the officer suffered only very minor injuries, adding that the car may have had frontal damage as a result of the collision with the police vehicle.
The male suspect was described as being in his late 30s or early 40s.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to the incident, or who may have seen the car to contact them.
