Man and woman charged after goods worth in region of £4,500 stolen in shoplifting incidents

Police in Lurgan arrested the pair on Friday and they are due to appear in court facing multiple charges

A man and a woman have been charged after a number of shoplifting incidents in which goods worth in the region of £4,500 are believed to have been stolen.

The pair were arrested by police in Lurgan on Friday after a number of shoplifting incidents across the district in recent days.

The 28-year-old woman is charged with four counts of going equipped for theft and seven counts of theft.

The 21-year-old man is also charged with four counts of going equipped for theft and with six counts of theft.

Both are due to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on tomorrow (Monday) January 5.

As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
