Wayne Boylan

Two men have been arrested this morning (Tuesday) in connection with the murder of Wayne Boylan in Warrenpoint in January 2019.

It follows a televised appeal last night by the PSNI on the BBC’s Crime NI show.

The pair, aged 63 and 67, were arrested in the Warrenpoint area on suspicion of murder, grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of firearms with intent.

Police said both men are currently in custody, assisting with enquiries.

Mr Boylan (37) was socialising with friends in a house on Lower Dromore Road when two men entered the property and shot him in the head with a shotgun.

He died instantly and a 21-year-old woman, who was also inside the property, sustained severe gunshot injuries.

The investigation into the murder was featured in episode four of the crime detection, prevention and awareness programme.

Charity Crimestoppers has also offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
