Tributes paid to ‘beautiful’ Newry mum-of-three with ‘heart of gold’

Tributes have been paid following the death of a popular Newry woman with a “heart of gold”.

Mother-of-three, Kerrie Cranney passed away peacefully at Daisy Hill Hospital on February 1, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.

Her death has left the wider Newry area in a state of shock and sadness, with many now recalling with fondness, her school days at St Mary’s High School and the lasting memories made there.

For a time, Kerrie was also a valued member of staff at Rockfield Nursing home, who said upon her passing: “Such sad news. Kerrie used to work in Rockfield and was a much loved staff member. Our condolences to all her family and May she Rest in Peace.”

Local cleaning business, We Shine & Go added: “All of us here at We Shine & Go Co are devastated to hear of the untimely death of Kerrie.

“She was a beautiful lady, loved by all of our team and clients alike. Our thoughts and sympathy go out to her family, and friends, and anyone who was lucky enough to have met her. RIP Kerrie.”

Those who had the good fortune of knowing Kerrie describe her as a “beautiful woman inside and out”. She was always “full of craic” and loved a chat.

Sharing their deepest condolences, one person said: “So sorry to be reading this, had a lovely chat with Kerrie only a few weeks ago. Sincere condolences to all her family on your devastating loss. Thinking and praying for you all. RIP Kerrie x”

Kerrie’s Requiem Mass will be held at 12.30pm in St Catherine’s Newry Dominican with burial afterwards in Monkshill Cemetery.
