Teenager charged with ramming police car leaving two officers in hospital

Two police officers were taken to hospital after being rammed by a car in Rathfriland on Monday.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with 23 motoring related offences as a result of the incident.

The charges include four counts of dangerous driving, four counts of using a motor vehicle without insurance and causing grievous bodily injury by dangerous driving.

They come following a road traffic collision at the Drumlough Road area of Rathfriland on Monday, in which a police vehicle was rammed by a car and two officers were taken to hospital for their injuries following the incident.

The teenager is due to appear at Newry Youth Court on Friday, August 5.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
