Runners are being urged to join ‘Team Hospice’ in the 2024 London Marathon and help raise vital funds for Southern Area Hospice Services.

The marathon will take place on Sunday, April 21 and its route through the city will take in many of London’s most famous landmarks.

The hospice marathon package includes race entry, flights, accommodation and transfers. Participants will also enjoy the camaraderie of taking part in the event as part of the group.

Money raised will help Southern Area Hospice Services continue to provide specialist palliative care for patients and their families living primarily in the Southern Trust area.

Kevin Morgan has taken part in the London Marathon for Southern Area Hospice Services for an incredible nine years in a row, raising thousands of pounds.

He said: “Taking part in one of the greatest sporting events in the world is an awesome experience and helping those in need by doing so only adds to the experience.

“I would encourage anyone who is thinking about it to go for it. I have greatly enjoyed my experiences in the London Marathon and have met some wonderful fellow runners along the way. I’m looking forward to taking part in my 10th London Marathon for the hospice next year”.

Another runner from the 2023 London Marathon Paul Moore, from Lurgan, said: “It was such a unique and memorable experience that brings you friendship, miles, medals and memories, what more could you ask for.”

With an annual fundraising target of over £3.2 million, Southern Area Hospice Services relies heavily on the support of local people taking part in events such as the London Marathon.

To achieve this £3.2 million, the hospice must raise £267, 000 per month, £61,538 per week, £8,791 per day, £366 per hour.
