Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with acquired brain injury (ABI).
This could be from stroke, trauma and other causes including brain tumours and infections.
Newry-based charity Head Injury Support is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals, carers and families affected by ABI.
Over the last 10 years they have experienced significant growth and now operate a dedicated ABI community hub, art workshop, a weekly outreach programme in Armagh and Craigavon and an expanding social enterprise initiative, Living in Colour.
Living in Colour has recently launched an online shop to complement their existing store front in Kildare Street, Newry.
Now bigger and better than ever, they offer handmade jewellery, pebble art and cards for all occasions. All of which features beautiful artwork crafted by survivors of acquired brain injury.
To coincide with Action for Brain Injury Week, Head Injury Support will be opening their doors to welcome you to Living in Colour on Wednesday, May 21, 10am-1pm at 4 Kildare Street for a Social Enterprise Showcase, with tea, coffee and plenty of craic!
You can meet the talented artists, see what is on offer in store, and help support fundraising efforts to ensure vital services remain.
Action for Brain Injury Week plays a crucial role in reducing stigma, promoting understanding and driving support for those living with brain injury.
Head Injury Support in conjunction with the Living in Colour social enterprise, are dedicated to helping those individuals with ABI build social connections, develop new skills and regain a renewed sense of purpose.
