Newry-based animal charity seek special ‘forever home’ for unique cross-eyed kitten

Little Lilah's most striking feature are her eyes, which are cross-eyed in appearance due to a condition known as strabismus

A Newry-based animal welfare charity is searching for a special forever home for one very unique, little kitten.

The ‘special girl’ was brought into the USPCA back in December after she was found alongside her sister by a member of the public.

Both the kittens were described as “very sick and with severe cat flu”.

After examination by the charity’s veterinary team, it was discovered that both kittens suffered from “severe entropion of their upper eyelids”, a condition where the eyelid turns inwards causing the eyelashes to rub against the eye.

As a result of this, at just seven weeks old and weighing a tiny 1.1kg, the all black kitten – who has been named Lilah – developed an ulcer on her eye.

However, the USPCA say that “thanks to the amazing work of our veterinary team” this complex condition was corrected.

Little Lilah’s most striking feature are her eyes, which are cross-eyed in appearance due to a condition known as strabismus.

The team at USPCA say this may improve as she grows up and her eye muscles strengthen but note that it does not “affect her vision or hold her back”.

Lilah is now ready to be rehomed in a “forever home” that can offer a quiet and settled space as she can initially be nervous in new environments and with new people.

She requires an “indoor only home” as her strabismus can affect depth perception and her ability to jump safely.

Please click here if you can offer Lilah a suitable home.
