Man armed with knife threatens staff before fleeing with cash from Newry off-licence

Police have issued a description of the robber

A man armed with a knife has made off with cash after threatening staff at an off-licence in Newry.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Monday.

Detectives from Ardmore are investigating and have issued a description.

He robbed the Greenbank Winelodge on the Warrenpoint Road and had previously been at the Centre store at the Greenbank Service Station on the same road.

The PSNI said the culprit was wearing a green parka coat and had a green and white scarf pulled around his face.

He also wore a dark hat, tracksuit bottoms and trainers, with white soles.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Detectives are appealing for any witnesses or persons who have any dash cam footage of this male in the area please contact police on 101 quoting reference 1474 30/12/2019.”
