A man accused of discharging a shotgun in a public place whilst under the influence of either drugs or alcohol, has appeared in court in Newry.
The 58-year-old was released on bail, whilst prosecution awaited a full file in the case, with a single condition that the defendant does not consume alcohol.
Wilson Hudson MacGuffin, of Rooney Park, Kilkeel, appeared charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition in suspicious circumstances, possession a loaded firearm while drunk or under the influence of drugs and discharging a firearm in a public place at Newry Magistrates’ on Wednesday.
As the charges were read, it was outlined that the offences were alleged to have occurred on February 2 in the vicinity of Rooney Road, Kilkeel, with the firearm being described as a shotgun.
Standing in the dock, the defendant confirmed that he understood the charges he faced.
A constable stated that he believed he could connect MacGuffin to the offences.
Defence counsel made no questions to this connection.
Prosecution informed the court that a full file was still outstanding in the case.
MacGuffin was released on his own bail of £300, with a single condition not to consume alcohol, to appear on April 1 for an update in the case.
