The funeral of a popular south Armagh man, who died tragically while at work, will take place on Tuesday.

Michael ‘Mickey’ Clarke sadly passed away from his injuries at the scene on Friday.

His death sent shockwaves through the community.

Speaking on Friday, Sinn Fein Councillor Declan Murphy said: “There is shock and sadness throughout our community following the death of this popular man in a tragic accident.

“Our thoughts go to the grieving family and friends of the deceased at this sad and tragic time.”

Mr Clarke is the beloved son of the late Eugene and Lelia Clarke and much loved brother of Katherine, Genie, Eugene and Margaret.

His funeral will leave his home at 51 Chancellors Road, on Tuesday, December 1, at 10am for 11am Requiem Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Cloughogue.

Interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Sadly, due to the current restrictions the wake and funeral are strictly private.

People are welcome to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passes by while respecting the government social distancing guidelines.

Mickey will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his brother, sisters, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces and entire family circle and friends. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.
