A fundraiser has been launched in memory of a Newry mum-of-four who passed away unexpectedly this week.
Stephanie McEvoy died suddenly at home on Monday (February 12).
According to a death notice, Stephanie was the devoted mummy of Kayden, Annalee, Alex and Zoey, the loving daughter of Cathy and treasured sister of Christopher, Peadar and Shannon.
A GoFundMe, which has been launched by her friends, is raising money for SADS UK, an organisation which works to help prevent premature sudden cardiac death.
So far it has raised £125, with an overall target of £500.
When the news of Stephanie’s passing was announced, hundreds of people took to social media to pay tribute to the mum-of-four’s life.
One said: “This world is so cruel. Absolutely heart-breaking. So many memories in school and the laughs we had. Such a talented girl and a wonderful mummy. Never forgotten.”
Another said: “To say this is heart-breaking would be an understatement. Thinking of Cathy and the entire McEvoy family at this awful time. Rest In Peace Stephanie.”
A third added: “To say I am shocked is an understatement. Steph you were probably one of the most genuine girls I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. May you rest in piece and god watch over your beautiful innocent little children they have a long hard road ahead. God rest your wee soul.”
Stephanie’s remains will repose at her mother’s residence, 287 Barcroft Park, from 1pm today (Thursday).
They will be removed on Saturday at 10am for 11am Requiem Mass for in St. Brigid’s Church, The Meadow, with burial afterwards in Monkshill cemetery.
Her passing is deeply regretted and sadly missed by her children, her mummy, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family circle and friends.
