Community in shock as young woman’s death being treated as suspicious by police

A community is in shock following the sudden death of a young woman in Newry.

The woman was found dead in a house in the Drumalane Park area of the city this morning (Sunday).

A PSNI spokesperson said they conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the death of a woman who was found dead at her home.

“Police are treating her death as suspicious at this time and a post mortem is to be conducted to establish the cause of her death,” they said.

“There are no further details at this time.”

Newry and Armagh Sinn Fein MP, Mickey Brady said the news had “shocked the local community”.

He added: “I want to express my condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the woman who has died at this sad time.

“A police investigation is now underway and anyone with information on what happened should get in contact with the PSNI.”
