A woman who had been charged with removing the body of Lurgan man Odhrán Kelly has now been charged with his murder.
The case of Andrea Catherine Stevenson (43), was heard at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, with court papers confirming the murder charge.
On December 3 last year, the beaten and burned body of Odhrán Kelly, a 23-year-old nursing student, was discovered near a burning car on Edward Street in Lurgan.
Stevenson was later charged with assisting an offender by removing his body.
Previous hearings of the Odhrán Kelly case have heard that Kelly was subjected to a “prolonged violent assault” and was “unable to defend himself”.
There are five people in total charged in connection with Mr Kelly’s murder: Shane Harte and Gary Scullion are both in custody charged with murder, while Stephanie McClelland and Crystal Redden are also facing charges in relation to the incident.
McClelland faces a charge of assisting an offender, while Redden is accused of perverting the course of justice by making a false statement.
The case against the five defendants had been scheduled for preliminary enquiry on Friday – the legal process through which a case is taken to the Crown Court.
Due to the new charge against Stevenson, her defence counsel requested the case be adjourned for more time.
District Judge Ranaghan put the case back to October 11 for the preliminary enquiry to proceed.
