A new play park is on the way for Lurgan which will cater for children with all needs and capabilities.

The £250,000 facility – to be locate within Lurgan Park – has been given approval.

It is a replacement to that which already exists within the park, considered by many to be outdated.

But as this week’s meeting of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s planning committee heard, it will have increased provision for children with disabilities.

The issuing of planning approval has been welcomed by local Alliance Party Councillor Peter Lavery.

He said “This will come as good news to users of the park.

“I am not sure as of yet on when construction will begin for this project, especially with the impact of Covid, however when completed I know it will be enjoyed by many children from across the town.

“Lurgan Park is popular with children and families all year round and it has been an oasis of calm during the pandemic so good to see council stepping up and putting investment towards it.”
