It is the end of the road for one County Armagh eatery, while another famous name on the local hospitality scene is now preparing to relaunch.
The Brownlow Castle Tearooms in Lurgan has confirmed that it will be “permanently closing its doors” at the end of today (Wednesday).
It made the announcement on social media, doing so with “deep regret”.
The Tearooms have been an integral part of the historic Brownlow Castle experience for many years, a popular port of call for locals and visitors alike.
Many have paid tribute to the staff and have said they will miss their visits to what really was a local much-loved institution.
Confirming the news, Brownlow Castle acknowledged all who had supported the business over the years.
In a statement, it said: “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our customers for their support, loyalty and custom. It has been a pleasure welcoming you to Brownlow Castle and we are truly grateful to everyone who has visited us and supported us along the way.
“A special thank you also goes to our dedicated team of staff, whose hard work, commitment and contribution have been invaluable.
“As we close this chapter, we would like to thank everyone who has been part of the Brownlow Castle Tearooms journey.
“Your support and contribution have been greatly appreciated.”
The venue has offered assurances, however, that all weddings and events previously booked will continue to go ahead as planned.
There has been better news for the good folk of Tandragee, with confirmation that a much-missed name in the town is set to make a return.
The Bounty has been closed for more than five years now and is due to reopen under new management.
It had been forced to pull down the shutters on its Market Street home in August 2021.
In came after the partial collapse of the building news door.
That property has since been demolished, while the Bounty – a popular local takeaway and cafe – has remained vacant ever since.
It was advertised to let earlier this year and now a new tenant has been found, one who plans to resurrect The Bounty’s famous name.
Again sharing on social media – and advertising for staff – The Bounty has teased it is “reopening soon under new management”.
“There’s still a little work to finish in the shop before we open, but we’ll share the opening date here as soon as it’s confirmed,” the new operators added.
“We’re looking forward to getting the doors open and welcoming you all in!”
