A huge new mixed-use development – including offices, industrial units and a drive-thru restaurant and takeaway – is being planned for Lurgan.
The proposals fall within the ‘major’ category of development and, as such, a pre-application notice has been drawn up.
Full details of what is being planned will be made known later this month.
The site in question is on the Portadown Road – opposite the Centrepoint leisure complex – with the exact location listed as being on “lands located to the east and north-east of unit Nos.1-4 Quarry Business Park”.
The proposals have been drawn up by Lurgan-based Down Developments Ltd.
Little is known at this stage of the exact plans, but the mixed-use development would include office and light industrial units for various uses.
There would also be storage and distribution units, including a trade counter, together with a builders merchants premises.
The development also includes catering facilities in the form of a drive-thru restaurant and takeaway, as well as a second restaurant/cafe.
The pre-application notice also details plans to construct creches, as well as providing parking, site works and the required infrastructure to cater for the traffic generated.
The development site stretches to close to 57,000 sq ft and the proposals, if approved, are expected to deliver a significant jobs boost for the local economy.
Details of the plans will be made public online later this month, while a physical display will be put on show at the Centrepoint leisure complex for a period of five weeks.
The public will have the chance to have their say on what is being proposed. Suggestions and opinions will then be used to finalise an application seeking full approval.
This, in turn, will be lodged for consideration with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council at a later date.
