Police believe an arson attack at a house in Lurgan could have been a case of mistaken identity.
And they have breanded as “cowardly” the actions of those who carried it out.
The incident happened sometime between 11pm on Monday and the following afternoon.
The culprits doused the door of a house in Queen’s Place in Lurgan with a flammable liquid and set it alight.
Fortunately, the fire extinguished itself, but police say it could “so easily have led to a loss of life”.
They appealed for information and added: “A terrace row would have been at risk had this caught. Just last month, an elderly lady was carried from her home and required treatment after an almost identical attack. Thankfully on this occasion, the blaze extinguished itself.
“One of our working theories is that this was mistaken identity based on a previous occupant of the property. If you are responsible for the attack and are reading this, it’s important you know that this a new tenant.
“If you saw anyone in the area acting suspiciously, know what happened, or have heard anyone talking about it since, please call us on 101. The reference number is 1429 of 17/07/18.”
