Children climbing and playing football on an old supermarket roof in Co Armagh has led to calls for security around the vacant site to be tightened.
Several youths – both boys and girls – have been pictured running along the roof of the old Lidl supermarket in Lurgan, which has been an issue all summer long.
The Castle Lane site has lay vacant since the new store opened at the Pinehurst Retail Park in the town earlier this year.
A SDLP spokesperson has advised parents to help take action
“Parents please advise your kids not to engage in this dangerous activity,” read the social media post.
“The SDLP have spoken to the PSNI in relation to this to increase patrols in the area and we have also tried to speak to the letting agent CBRE, however, after leaving numerous voicemails with the relevant letting agent we have received no phone call back to get the owner of the building to increase security on this site.
“The unfortunate situation here is that this has been going on the majority of this summer.
“Now that this vigilant member of the public has taken these photographs, hopefully the parents and owner of the building will take action to ensure this dangerous activity stops immediately.”
