Tractor and trailer stolen from farm yard in Loughgall overnight

A tractor and trailer worth thousands of pounds was stolen from a property in Loughgall on Tuesday night.

Police are investigating the report of the theft of a tractor and trailer from a property on the Cloveneden Road.

It is believed the blue New Holland T7060 tractor and the red Herron H2 tipper trailer were stolen from a yard sometime between 9pm and midnight on Tuesday night.

Damage was also caused to the side of a house and a car parked in the yard as the tractor was being taken.

Officers are asking anyone who was travelling in the vicinity of the Cloveneden Road in Loughgall on Tuesday evening and who may have noticed any suspicious activity, or saw the tractor and trailer travelling along the road, to contact them in Armagh on 101 quoting reference number 28 18/12/19.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.

Newry and Armagh DUP Assemblyman William Irwin has condemned those behind the theft.

He said: “This is yet another concerning incident whereby a valuable tractor and dump trailer have been stolen from a hard-working farmer.

“This is the latest in a line of rural thefts and I have been speaking to local police who are fully investigating this incident.

“Our rural communities are doing what they can to secure their farmyards and machinery, however it is a difficult task and especially so given that there are those in society who are spending their time finding ways to steal items from farms and properties.

“I trust that the PSNI can do what they can to try and apprehend those behind these thefts and bring them to justice.”
