Tributes have been paid to the victims of the horrific road collision near Moy on Saturday night as all three have been named locally.
They were 31-year-old father-of-four Conor Quinn, from Coalisland, Laura Hoy (23), a mother-of-one from Cookstown, and 48-year-old John Guy, a father-of-six, who had been living in Keady.
Police officers received a report at about 10.20pm on Saturday night of a serious three-vehicle collision involving a red BMW, a grey Volkswagen and a white Audi.
It happened on the Armagh Road, between Moy and Armagh, and it is understood that all three who died had been travelling in separate cars.
The road was closed overnight and throughout Sunday, with police later confirming that three people had tragically died at the scene.
Four others were injured, three of whom were taken to hospital, two to Craigavon and the third to the Royal Victoria in Belfast. All those taken to hospital have been described as being in a stable condition.
The youngest of those who lost their lives was Laura Hoy, who was the mother of a four-year-old girl. She was from the Cookstown area and worked at a local bar and restaurant in the County Tyrone town.
It is the second tragedy for the Hoy family. Laura’s older sister Linda Owens passed away in June 2023 following a brave battle with cancer.
Conor Quinn was a father-of-four young boys.
His sister, Róisín Marshall, confirmed the tragic loss of her brother on social media.
She wrote: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Conor. Cherished father, brother and son. He will always be loved and missed. Wake details to follow.”
Derrytresk GFC, meanwhile, has expressed “deep sadness” at the tragic loss.
“Conor proudly represented the club through to minor level, wearing the blue and white with commitment and pride,” the club said in a social media post. “He will be remembered fondly by teammates, coaches and all within Derrytresk who had the pleasure of knowing him.
“Our heartfelt condolences are extended to his mother Bernie and father Hugh, his sister Róisín, his brothers Cathal and Pádraig, and the entire Quinn family circle at this incredibly difficult time. The Quinn family are long associated with our club, and we share deeply in their sorrow.
“Go dtuga Dia suaimhneas síoraí dó, agus neart dá theaghlach sna laethanta atá rompu.”
Mr Quinn, of Derrylaughan, Coalisland, was the son of Hugh and Bernie (née Gates), father to Riley, Garry, Cathair and Turlough, and a brother to Róisín, Pádraig and Cathal.
The third victim of the tragedy was John Guy. The 48-year-old, a father-of-six, had been living in the Keady area and was originally from Dublin.
He is described in a death notice as the “dearly beloved daddy to Troy, Maddie, Carla, Tiana, Brogan and Morgan Cherished son of Harry and Caroline and loving brother to Regina, Aisling and Christopher”.
Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Boylan said the town of Keady was in shock.
He added: “My thoughts are with John’s family, friends and the wider community at this incredibly difficult time. Our community is in shock following this heartbreaking tragedy.
“My thoughts are also with the families and friends of all those who lost their lives in this devastating incident.
“I know our community will come together to offer strength, care and support to all those affected in the days ahead, and I hope those in hospital make a speedy recovery.
“I want to commend the first responders, including the police, ambulance service and fire service, for their professionalism and dedication in responding to this tragic incident.”
The road re-opened late on Sunday afternoon.
During a press briefing at the scene earlier in the day, Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck appealed for information.
He said: “Enquiries are continuing and anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage or any other information, should contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1654 – 21/02/26.”
