Plans have been submitted to Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for the extension of a “prominent” Dungannon-based horticulture company.
Growmoor Horticulture – based on the Derrylee Road – have requested permission to construct an extension to their existing factory shed and office.
The company website describes the organisation as a “prominent player in the horticultural industry, with roots in Northern Ireland dating back to 30 + years” and is engaged in the delivery of “premium grade growing media products”.
They also boast the employment of “35 highly skilled employees”, with Growmoor Better Growing investing in both its “personnel and production processes, utilising only renewable resources to guarantee sustainability”.
Their current state-of-the-art facilities are described as “capable of producing an impressive 450,000 cubic meters of blended soil, coir, barks, green fibre, wood fibre, and substrates each year, solidifying its position as a reliable supplier in the industry” – alongside this they also express a desire to pursue “ambitious growth plans to become a leading supplier in the growing media market”.
As part of these growth plans, the company are now seeking permission to develop a new extended shed and offices to allow the existing business to develop and expand to meet demands.
If approved, the proposals could see the current factory floorspace of 1,302 m2 extended by a further 2,538 m2. The new factory extension would sit immediately adjacent to the existing factory.
The new two-storey office building would extend to 372 m2 and would be located separate to the factory buildings in the corner of their delivery and loading area.
On the ground floor the offices would comprise a reception, stairwell and lifts, an accounts office, yard manager office and toilet block. The first floor would comprise the director’s office, a sales office, secretary’s office and conference room.
The building would also boast an external stairwell to the first floor.
The application is due to be advertised shortly.
