Emergency services are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision in Crossmaglen this evening (Friday).
Police have confirmed that they are on the scene of an incident in the Rathview Park area of the town – close to the junction with North Street.
It is understood a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle outside the shop, close to the entrance to the housing estate.
Eye-witnesses reported the presence of the NI Air Ambulance but it remains unknown at this stage whether the injured person was taken by air. The extent of their injuries is also unknown.
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are currently attending a report of a road traffic collision at the Rathview Park area of Crossmaglen this evening, Friday. There are no further details at this stage.”
Sinn Fein Councillor, Aoife Finnegan, this evening expressed her concern following the incident.
The Slieve Gullion councillor said: “There was a traffic accident in Crossmaglen this evening in which a pedestrian was injured and has been taken for medical treatment.
“I would encourage people to avoid the area for possible disruption.
“I wish a speedy recovery to the person who was injured this evening and hope that all involved in the incident are okay.”
