‘Death drivers’ strike fear into south Armagh village

Community 'not prepared to tolerate' antics and sit by until lives are lost

Show-off drivers performing stunts in a south Armagh village are putting local lives at risk.

And the antics of the culprits – dubbed ‘death drivers’ – have many living in fear.

Sinn Fein Councillor Mickey Larkin has spoken out after an incident in Mullaghbawn.

He has warned that someone will be killed as a result of these actions if those responsible do not catch themselves on and stop it now!

He claimed: “In the early hours of last Thursday morning a speeding car involved in what is best described as the deadly antics of ‘death drivers’ – such as handbraking, performing donuts – disrupted most of the entire village of Mullaghbawn.

“This is a deadly culture that the community in this village is not prepared to tolerate.

“The PSNI are aware of this latest incident and I would appeal to the community to work with the police to apprehend those involved in this criminal activity.

“Working together we can thwart this scourge”.

His colleague Newry and Armagh MLA Megan Fearon added: “These anti-community activities cause great fear and put the lives of residents at risk.

“Death drivers and their antics are a very real threat to public safety and those involved need to realise that their criminal activity is not acceptable.”
