Concerns have been raised in Crossmaglen over video clips circulating online which show two schoolgirls involved in a violent fight.
Sinn Féin councillor for the area, Aoife Finnegan, described the images as “extremely disturbing” and says she will be liaising with the school, the GAA club and police in the area.
“I am aware of video clips being shared on a social media platform showing two young local female students involved in a violent fight,” explained Councillor Finnegan.
“The images are extremely disturbing and have caused great concern within our local community.
“I would ask those engaged in this serious and indeed dangerous anti social behaviour to think about the impact of their actions, particularly the potential for serious injury to each other.
“These fighting incidents, which take place, are unacceptable and cannot be tolerated by the community who have worked hard to make this area a safe and pleasant place to live.
“I will be requesting a meeting with the school, Crossmaglen Rangers and the PSNI to discuss the incident and the issues involved.
“I believe that we can work together to ensure this type of dangerous activity ceases as a matter of urgency.”
