Shopping trolleys and children’s pushchairs were among the items removed from the waterways around Craigavon Lakes.
Council clean up crews are to remove the discarded items which have ruined, and become an eyesore, in the area.
“This will come as very welcome news for many people in the borough especially families who use this excellent public park on a regular basis,” said councillor Cormac Lennon.
“The level of rubbish discarded in the waterways which feed the lakes had reached a disgraceful level and was destroying the beautiful scenery in this area of the Lakes.
“I would urge people to be alert and mindful of people illegally dumping rubbish in the Lakes and their tributaries and to alert Council or the PSNI should they encounter people doing this.
“The Lakes are a space shared by everyone in the Borough and should be looked after and cared for to the highest standard to ensure enjoyment for all.”
