Protestors were removed from community policing meeting in Craigavon by PSNI officers on Thursday evening.
The republicans gathered at the Craigavon Civic and Conference Centre where a pre-arranged Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) meeting was taking place.
The group unfurled banners and hoisted flags outside before making their way inside.
It was reported that the group then stood in front of the chairperson, DUP councillor Mark Baxter, stating the “PSNI/RUC” had no place in the community.
Officers then removed the group from the event.
Upper Bann MP Carla Lockhart, speaking afterwards, said: “Masked republicans storming a community policing meeting to intimidate elderly residents isn’t ‘activism’, it’s pure thuggery.
“[Last night], DUP Cllr Mark Baxter was chairing the PCSP meeting in Craigavon when a group of anti-PSNI republicans tried to shut it down. They failed.
“Thanks to the swift action of PSNI officers, the protestors were removed, and local residents were able to have their say on policing in their community.
“This disgraceful behaviour stands in stark contrast to the brave men and women of the PSNI, who put themselves in harm’s way every day to serve everyone in our society despite the ongoing threats they face.
“Those who believe they can bully and intimidate their way to dominance should hear this loud and clear: they will not win. Democracy, law, and order will always prevail.”
Last week, a protest was held at a similar community policing event in the Kilwilkee area of Lurgan earlier.
