Plans are in the pipeline for a major new residential development at Craigavon.
The proposals – in the name of Windsor Developments – are for a site “40m to the north of No.48 and 50m to the north of No.50, Drumnagoon Road”.
The application is now with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
If successful, it would see a total of 48 housing units built in what is the first phase of a new development being promoted as Rushmere Glen.
This would take the former of 30 semi-detached houses, as well as eight townhouses.
There would also be two apartment blocks, which would collectively provide a further 10 new units.
The application also details associated site works, road layout, car parking – a total of 98 spaces – and landscaping works.
In its present form, the site is listed in the submission as “vacant land”.
A transport assessment form indicates that site access will be from a newly aligned and widened Drumnagoon Road.
The location is a key factor in the development and should be attractive for future tenants, according to the assessment form.
It adds: “The location of the site is one of the biggest factors in terms of influencing travel. Located with 1km of a retail and employment opportunities, future residents will have good access on foot to local amenities.
“Craigavon benefits from an extensive cycle network which runs beside the site, and existing bus services provide linkages to the bus and train station and surrounding towns. This location is accessible by non-car modes.
“There are excellent local services within approximately 1km walk of the site. This includes Tesco supermarket and Marlborough Retail Park and the Carn Industrial Estate.”
The proposals will now be advertised shortly.
