Craigavon’s new Dunelm store is expected to open before the end of the year.
It will come as welcome news for shoppers who have been eagerly counting down the days since confirmation of the new outlet in April.
Work has been ongoing fitting out the new store and, it can now be confirmed, the substantial premises will also include the retailer’s popular in-store ‘Pausa’ cafe.
Ahead of the official opening, Dunelm has now started the recruitment process for staff at its latest premises and locals will be hopeful of it throwing open its doors in time for Christmas.
Among the roles currently open to application are managerial positions for trading, stock and delivery and to lead the new coffee shop.
Dunelm opened a new outlet in London over the summer, saying it reflected its plans to “accelerate growth through its store portfolio”.
It was one of three new stores in the immediate pipeline, with the retailer indicating that the County Armagh store – and another at Llandudno in Wales – are now “expected before the end of 2026”.
Dunelm styles itself as ‘the UK’s leading home furnishings retailer’ and is taking over two vacant units at Rushmere. which will be amalgamated to meet its needs.
The former B&M Bargains shop and Poundstretcher have been amalgamated with alterations to the front and rear facade. The installation of a mezzanine floor will increase sales space.
Dunelm offers a wide range of home-related goods, including furniture, bedding, curtains, lighting, decorating and DIY products, and kitchenware, as well as garden and travel accessories.
The company operates across the UK, with five stores already trading in Northern Ireland – two in Belfast, and one each in Ballymena, Coleraine and Derry/Londonderry.
Craigavon will now become the sixth for NI, although the company has hinted further outlets could follow in 2027 and beyond.
