Man charged with growing cannabis plants worth £105,000 in Craigavon has case sent to Crown Court

A co-accused had previously been in court last year and received a jail sentence

A man charged with cultivating cannabis plants worth an estimated £105,000 at Legahory Court in Craigavon has had his case sent to the Crown Court.

Mindaugas Lengvinas (33), with an address listed as no fixed abode in Banbridge, but who is originally from Lithuania, is charged with offences on January 24, 2022.

As well as allegedly cultivating cannabis, he is also charged with possessing cannabis with intent to supply, dishonestly using electricity and possession of a prohibited weapon, namely pepper spray.

He appeared at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday, May 9, via video-link from prison where he has been on remand. He had the assistance of an interpreter.

A co-accused had previously been in court last year and received a jail sentence.

The charges come after cannabis plants worth an estimated £105,000 were discovered during a search of a property at Legahory Court in 2022.

Lengvinas was further remanded in custody and the case was adjourned to June 12 for arraignment at Craigavon Crown Court.
