The M1 has now reopened following a single vehicle collision which saw one person taken to hospital earlier today.
The collision – which occurred near the Moira turnoff heading towards Belfast – is understood to have happened shortly before 9am.
The motorway had been closed between junctions eight and nine to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.
An eyewitness explained that one vehicle had “left the road” and that there were substantial tailbacks as a result.
It is understood that a Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue service appliance was also in attendance.
A spokesperson for The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 08:34 on Monday 24 February, following reports of an RTC in the M1 area, Lisburn.
“NIAS despatched 2 Rapid Response Paramedics, 1 Advanced Paramedic, 1 Emergency Crew and 1 HART Crew.
“Ambulance Control also tasked HEMS crew via car.
“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital by Ambulance.”
