Getactiveabc is ready to shamrock ‘n’ roll with events and activities to get the whole family active and outdoors.
South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon will be a hive of activity on Saturday, March 15 as it hosts St Patrick’s Volleyball Festival with Northern Ireland Volleyball. With some tickets still available for the high-level matches, spectators are very welcome to come along and support the talented athletes as they strive for their own pot of gold!
Get your St Patrick’s celebrations off to a flying start by limbering up to a festive Armagh parkrun on Saturday, March 15. Green tutus, shamrock singlets and even emerald-dyed hair will be most welcome in the beautiful Palace Demesne for this year’s Leprechaun Fun Run, part of the Home of St Patrick Festival.
It’s March but it isn’t over until it’s clover – there’s still plenty of opportunity to develop your skiing skills at Craigavon Golf and Ski. The centre is running a series of weekly 2-hour ski lessons for all abilities until the start of April and you can master the skills even faster with their ‘Adult Learn to Ski in a Day’ on Sunday, March 16.
From a funfair ride in Solitude Park, Banbridge on Saturday, March 15 to visiting the new arrivals at Tannaghmore Animal Farm in Craigavon City Park or planning a camping trip to Gosford Forest Park, the grass is always greener in our ABC parks and open spaces on St Patrick’s weekend. Get feeling green with milder weather, fewer crowds, extended park opening hours and the first signs of spring awakening in nature.
What better way to prep for St Patrick’s Day than by planning a boat trip from Kinnego Marina to the magical Coney Island and following in Patrick’s footsteps! Legend has it that St. Patrick visited Coney Island via a causeway which extended from the mainland out to the island.
Saint Patrick’s Stone is just one of the many interesting natural and historic things to see and experience on the island.
Combine your boat trip with a bit of fishing and ‘lunch with a view’ at The Galley Cafe. Kinnego Marina offers annual, monthly, weekly and daily berthing rates and there’s also the option of camping, caravanning or glamping at this magical spot.
Gyms, swimming pools and soft play facilities at South Lake, Banbridge and Orchard Leisure Centres will be open over the St Patrick’s weekend and centre cafes will be serving up all manner of green tasty treats and brews!
