A drink driver will be feeling somewhat hungover this morning after being ratted out – by his car!
The PSNI in Craigavon are well used to receiving tip-offs about drink drivers behind the wheel.
But it is a rare occasion when it is the vehicle which is being driven is also the caller.
The PSNI have hailed the use of new technology is cars which report to police when they crash, describing it as a “really good safety feature” – but a “really bad feature to have if you’re a drink driver”.
The police revealed details on their social media, saying the “CAR phoned us to let us know about a crash last night when it turned out the driver was drunk.
“You think you’re having a rough weekend? At least your car hasn’t touted on you!
“Feel free to phone us if you suspect someone is drink driving. This driver wasn’t the only drunk driver caught over the weekend.
“We do take action, but your help is vital in ridding the road of these potential death drivers.”
