It was heard that all allegations levelled at the 29-year-old were to have been committed on the same date and related to a single female.

He appeared charged with two counts of sexual assault by penetration and rape at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

It was heard that all three accusations pertained to the same injured party and that all were alleged to have occurred on November 19, of 2017.

The nature of the alleged sexual assaults were that the accused penetrated the vagina of the injured party with his fingers without her consent.

The defendant consented to the holding of a preliminary enquiry on Friday.

Prosecution stated: “On the bases of the papers before the court I submit that there is a case to answer”.

Defence barrister Barry McKenna made no contrary submissions.

The 29-year-old was released on his own bail of £500 with the condition to have no contact with the injured party or any witnesses.

The case will begin Crown Court proceedings on May 10.
