Co Armagh man accused of sexual activity with child to face Crown Court

A Craigavon man accused of engaging in sexual activity with a child will face Crown Court proceedings later this year.

Court heard that the 29-year-old is alleged to have committed the offences in November of 2015 with the same female being involved on all occasions.

The defendant  appeared charged with three counts of engaging in a sexual act involving penetration with a person under 16, three counts of sexual communication with a child and making indecent images of a child at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday.

As the charges were read out, it was heard that the offence were all alleged to have occurred in November of 2015 with a single female injured party.

Stood in the dock, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution said that based on the papers before the court they believed there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence barrister Conor Lunny made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Steven Keown stated that he was satisfied there was a case to answer.

The 29-year-old was released on his own bail of £500 to appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on December 10 for arraignment.
