Co Armagh man accused of sexual activity with child to face Crown Court

A Craigavon man accused of engaging in sexual activity with a child will face Crown Court proceedings later this year.

Court heard that the 29-year-old is alleged to have committed the offences in November of 2015 with the same female being involved on all occasions.

The defendant¬† appeared charged with three counts of engaging in a sexual act involving penetration with a person under 16, three counts of sexual communication with a child and making indecent images of a child at Craigavon Magistrates’ on Friday.

As the charges were read out, it was heard that the offence were all alleged to have occurred in November of 2015 with a single female injured party.

Stood in the dock, the defendant made no objection to the holding of a preliminary enquiry.

Prosecution said that based on the papers before the court they believed there was a prima facie case to answer.

Defence barrister Conor Lunny made no contrary submissions.

District Judge Steven Keown stated that he was satisfied there was a case to answer.

The 29-year-old was released on his own bail of ¬£500 to appear before Craigavon Magistrates’ Court on December 10 for arraignment.
