A-MAYzing bank holiday getactiveabc adventure: activated!

Here’s a round-up of getactiveabc ideas and inspiration to get the whole family active and enjoying the great outdoors!

With two bank holidays in May, you’ll need plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.

Here’s a round-up of getactiveabc ideas and inspiration to get the whole family active and enjoying the great outdoors!

‘Wet’ your appetite for adventure!

The spring sunshine and rising temperatures will put you in the mood for some very cool activities with the team at South Lake Watersports. A 2-hour RYA ‘Junior Learn to Sail’ course on Monday May 5 is a chance for young hands and feet to get a feel for the sport and learn basic manoeuvres.

Staying on the water, ‘Learn to Kayak’ (Saturday May 3) and ‘Learn to Paddleboard’ (Saturday May 31) provide opportunities to develop your paddling technique and earn a prestigious BCU/CANI recognised qualification, a stepping stone to joining South Lake Paddlers Club on Wednesday evenings.

Celebrate Loughgall Country Park’s 25th birthday!

Celebrate this much-loved park’s birthday by planning a visit. May is the month when nature spreads its own confetti across the apple orchards in Loughgall Country Park and the striking pink blossoms blanketing the rows of apple trees is a sight you don’t want to miss!

Walk, climb and swing in the playpark, play 18 holes or even a couple of sets of tennis against a stunning backdrop.

The baristas at Glaze & Roll will be serving their amazing coffee, toasties, and traybakes at the park over the bank holiday weekends, including the very on-trend Iced Honeycomb Americano, Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and Strawberry White Hot Chocolate, all going down a storm and perfect for a birthday treat!

Slide into the bank holiday weekend Craigavon Golf and Ski Centre is the place to be for fun, on and off the slopes!

Enjoy family and individual tubing on the slopes, and golf and footgolf provide fairway fun and exercise on the greens. Free with a getactiveabc membership, playing over 18 holes of footgolf with a size 5 football promises to get the holiday competitive juices flowing!

Try an aMAY-zing walk and play combo

May is National Walking Month, and our stunning parks, glens and woods are open and bursting with fabulous colours and energetic wildlife to keep you on your toes!

Combine an ABC walking trail with an indoor soft play, swim or splash session. ‘Walk This May’ and make the most of the warmer weather with a family camping, caravanning or glamping getaway.

Enjoy the stunning views of Lough Neagh at Kinnego Marina, revel in the riot of seasonal colour at Gosford Forest Park and get lost in the bluebell woods of Clare Glen.

With the summer stretching ahead, why not consider an annual parking pass for Gosford Forest Park and Loughgall Country Park, a joint golf membership for Loughgall and Silverwood, or a getactiveabc family membership providing unlimited access to pools, gyms and fitness classes across the borough, cycle and paddlesport hire, inflatable sessions, soft play facilities, and footgolf.
