City attack treated as ‘hate crime’

Police are treating as a hate crime a weekend attack on a 20-year-old man in the Loughgall Road area of Armagh.
And tonight (Wednesday), the PSNI issued an appeal for the public to come forward with information so the four culprits can be brought to justice.
The man was walking along the road at around 4am on Saturday, November 30, when the occupants of a red or maroon coloured car, driving towards Armagh, shouted sectarian abuse at him.
The car stopped ahead of the man and four males got out of the vehicle and assaulted him.
He was punched to his face and fell to the ground where he was kicked a number of times. He sustained injuries which required medical attention.
The four males then made off in the car which drove off at speed in the direction of Armagh.
One of the gang is described as being of stocky build with  bleached, blonde hair.
Police are treating this assault as a hate crime and are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it to contact them in Armagh on 0845 600 8000. If you prefer to  provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent  Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555  111.
