Appeal for witnesses after pedestrian struck by car in Bessbrook

Police have describe the incident as "serious"

Police have appealed for witnesses following a serious road traffic accident in Bessbrook on Friday (December 1).

This collision happened on the Camlough Road junction with High Street, at 4.25pm.

The road was shut in both directions for a period as emergency services dealt with the situation.

A police spokesperson said: “The collision involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.

“Police would appeal for witnesses to come forward. We particularly would like to speak to those people who stopped and assisted until the arrival of the emergency services.

“If you were one of those persons please make contact with Police on the 101 number and quote the reference number 970 1/12/17.”

There injured person was rushed to hospital where their condition is unknown at this stage.
