The efforts of search and rescue teams as they enter into day three of their attempts to locate a missing pensioner in Dromore have been praised by a local Alderman.
A large-scale operation was launched on Tuesday evening (January 20) after reports were received that an elderly man entered the river.
Search efforts have been focused on the stretch of river running from Bridge Street, through Dromore Park and out towards the Dromore Community Centre.
Providing an update on Friday (January 23) following two days of heavy rainfall, DUP Alderman Paul Rankin said: “I spoke to Search & Rescue on site yesterday and the Search continued this morning and throughout today along the river.
“The river levels and flow are not helping the search operation. I would commend the search and rescue team who are mostly volunteers.
“Continued thoughts and prayers with the family and all impacted by this tragic situation.”
The missing man is understood to be 75-year-old, Archie Boal.
Police say he was last seen in the Brewery Lane area of Dromore on Tuesday afternoon, January 20.
If you have any information in relation to Mr Boal’s whereabouts or you believe you may have seen him, please contact police immediately on 101, or 999 in an emergency, quoting reference number 798 20/01/26.
